Chris Anderson’s “Long Tail” Reviewed

Just read a pretty challenging review of one of my fave reads/listens of the moment in the “Guardian” newspaper in the UK.

Basically, Chris Anderson, editor of “Wired” magazine, is saying that you need to forget targeting your marketing efforts at the peak of the pyramid and that you need to aim at the “long tail”. Specifically talking about the music industry, he contends that the traditional record labels have no future, and that bands now see themselves as brands.

As opposed to the record labels seeing the bands as brands, or more accurately, commodities, and exploiting them accordingly, as it was before……..
