Here’s a little guessing game for the weekend.
Do you know anyone who is from Scotland? (That’s NOT the question!)
If so, you’ll maybe be aware that many people from Scotland, or whose families originally hailed from Scotland, have a ‘Mc’ or ‘Mac’ attached to the front of their family name. It means “son of”, basically.
Yes, like the Golden Arches mob, that’s it.
Well, a favorite phrase of mine that relates to internet marketing is McMoc.
I know that you have never heard it before, simply because I invented it and I am equally 100% certain that I have never mentioned it to anyone ever before.
I am, in fact, granting you a 100% exclusive insight into my online marketing dictionary.
So, the guessing game is, what, how or why is a McMoc?
To get some ideas, watch this very short video and then this one, and have a go, or as many goes as you want, by adding as a ‘comment’ to this post.
If anyone actually gets it right (which I seriously doubt) they will win three superb video software’s that together are worth $211!
Anyone that makes me laugh will probably also get the same prize because, as you can probably tell from the first movie, that’s not an easy thing to do!
Watch these videos, and see if you can guess what it actually stands for.
And, let me know what you think about the second video too, before I fill in some of the blanks in the story surrounding it….
PS. I would recommend that you don’t sign up for anything at the second video site until you’ve got the full story….but definitely that you DO sign up at the end of the first one…!!
PPS. A clue for you. It’s a phrase that I would use to describe what I believe I see happening in the second video.

Being an exiled Scot, I feel morally obliged to have a go!
How about “Moronic Cavemen Mainlining On Cretinism?”
Send me the prize now!
Rab
Oooh, I love guessing games! How about, ‘Marketing con’s, making outrageous claims’? That would also be my comment on what I see happening!
Blimey! Rab, that will almost certainly be in the running for a funny prize and EM - whether it’s because I’m English also, so maybe we think the same, but three out of the five words are absolutely spot on correct!
And, just so you’ll know that I did not cheat, I actually created another blog yesterday and posted the answer, so that the time/date stamp on the blog will validate the correct answer.
Great job so far - any more takers?
Steve
Gotta go for the full five! ‘Mindless criminals making outrageous claims’?
Moronic claptrap…? Miserly cheaters…? Am I close yet?
OK… I’m going to say that the
‘Mc’ part of it is something like
the explanation you gave us,
as in ’son of’, or offspring of…
The ‘Moc’ part stands for this:
More Outdated Crap.
So, a McMoc is a repeat, or
rehashing of tactics, in this
case internet marketing
tactics, that are already old,
stale, and worn out.
Rachel,
Yes, you’re definitely thinking in the right direction. And although I think that some of your suggestions are way more pithy and accurate than my original phrase, you’re no quite there yet!
Jaya,
You’re thinking is spot on, as the thoughts that you are expressing are precisely my thoughts too! But, can you get the words - te comments above may help!
Thanks, and please keep trying!
Steve
Could it be:
“Malaysians can make overflowing cash”
by looking at my site?
Rahman
Marketing circus, More outrageous claims
More clowns, Making outrageous claims
More cons, More outrageous claims
Milking confusion, Making outrageous claims
Money claims, More outrageous cons
Marketing claims, More old cons
How about these?
Minting copious cash outta clowns, making criminal cash off clowns, make copious cash or checks, major creeps cream off cash………any of those would work in this case!
