Make your existence more meaningful by grabbing this life changing read from our pet RSS feed. Go on, you KNOW it makes sense!
Just came across a new site called Thoof, that I am guessing is targeting a similar market to Digg.
It is set up as a personalized news site, and the way they have gone about attracting new posters is very interesting, and possibly a method that we might see more of in the future.
Quite simply, they are using the ’sponsored post’ method of attracting new visitors, but in a very unusual way.
Unlike most of these opportunities, they do not concentrate on specifically requiring that you write a brand new post about Thoof, although, of course, I am writing about it now, so this would probably count!
Anyway, what they ask you to do is ‘tag’ one of your favorite postings of the last 30 days on your own blog with a Thoof ‘rank button’, like the one at the bottom of this post.
Now, that button that you see there does not actually relate to this post at all, but relates to the post that I submitted to Thoof, that is my ‘10 Simple Online Business Tips’ post.
And it should show a percentage figure, which reflects how popular this post is with other readers.
I have no idea how high this percentage figure can go, but what I do know is that it starts out at 1%, which means that you are about as popular as squat! (boo-hoo).
This seems similar to the Digg idea of whether you ‘Digg’ something or bury it, only maybe a little crueler, I don’t know?
I can say that the badge below was a very simple ‘cut and paste’ job, and that actually submitting the post to Thoof was pretty much a breeze as well, although I’ll be a lot happier when (if??) I move off that dreaded 1%!!
Anyway, it’s a very interesting site, lots of good personalized news stories on there, so I would suggest that you give it a look see sometime soon.
