Noticed over the past few days that the MyBlogLog widget over to the right there kept asking me whether I wanted to register for an account. Which was kind of odd, as this is my blog site anyway.

So, I eventually went to check it out and, hey-ho, MBL is now a part of the amorphous mass that is Yahoo.

Anyone have any feelings about this?

My two pennies worth is that I am totally p’d-off with this ceaseless ’swallowing up’ craze that the big three seem to be constantly indulging in. Just another step away from independent thought and down the bumpy slope into a world where smaller companies, ideas and organizations actually have little role to play, or purpose.

And, the most interesting thing about this? I have seen far less visitors from MBL this last week or so than from the other widget over there, from Blog Catalog.

The moral of the tale?

Well, there probably isn’t one, but I am guessing that I am not alone in thinking that if I wanted to be associated with the Yahoo brand, I would have signed up with them before, wouldn’t I?

The thing that really gets on my bits is that now, I have to use my Yahoo email accunt to sign in and, oh, if I don’t have one, I can sign up. Well, I don’t actually want to, and I object to the fact that you are trying to make me.

And do not give me all the B/S about how this will allow me to access all of Yahoo’s wonderful services.

Hello…..doesn’t the fact that I have refused to do so far tell you that I have no interests in being part of your money grabbing and grubbing organization?

It’s the same reason that I am pulling out of AdSense too.

The only winners from that one are Big G, and do not allow anyone to tell you otherwise. There’s dozens of great alternatives out there, and I plan to test them all, because, from now on, AdSense can go spin……..

Okay, so that’s my bit said. What do you think?
